Preview for the things to come!

Hi Everyone! We’ve promised you devlogs, and we finally made one!

In the latest development update, we've made some real progress in both art and tech. If you remember the previous sneak peek (Post in our Discord) we were working on the new tools for the tile system. They are complete now, and our artists can make absolutely gorgeous pieces to build from!

The biggest technical improvement is that terrain and buildings are now part of the same system. That is a game changer (pun intended), and it now allows us to have two things:

1) We can now have caves and weird shapes. Previously, the terrain was flat and didn’t allow any type of holes in it, and was static and boring.

2) The ability to edit terrain in the game. That immediately gave us a headache with placing terrain on top of buildings and needs polishing, but it’s an important step. We now have several types of tiles working together.

The terrain itself was modeled from the ground up, as well as new building tiles. It sounds humble, but to make the terrain buildable, we need more than 60 different pieces per type of tile. That’s a lot, and we did it extremely fast! Here’s a comparison between version 0.2 and 0.3.

If you look closely, you can see that a lot of other things changed too. There are now doors there, overall style has changed a little bit as well, and we now finally have procedural decor elements like doors and windows. We're really excited to tell you about them! We hope it doesn’t take a month this time.

Our posts are that rare because we are putting a lot of effort into our game. More updates to come, so stay tuned, and thanks for your patience!
